February 2, 2010

Greetings Everyone

Joe and I had a great time at the Tucson Quilters Show even though we had to brave 70 mph winds, snow, rain and tornado warnings to get there!   And where did January go?  I was just getting used to it being a new year and now it is February.  It's 50 degrees here in the Pacific NW and my iris bulbs are starting to come up.  What a crazy winter.

JAPANESE SYMBOLS & PATTERNS

The name for cloisonné in Japanese (Seven Treasures) originates from the sound of the kanji characters for "in four directions" which is the way the circled patterns connect and continue in this design.  The cloisonné treasures are gold, silver, pearls, agate, crystal and lapis lazuli.  It is only natural that the this designs should possess auspicious qualities.

You'll find the Seven Treasures design in many of the Sashiko and Stencil designs.

NEW FABRICS

We've got some fun new Michael Miller fabrics to offer you.  The Winter Temple panel, Chinese Kids and Butterfly Mystique are back in stock.   On the wild side is
Mod Sakura Patchwork and Southwest Muralito.  Tree Trunk circles come in three colors and coordinate with other fabrics added to the Jungle fabric page.

You'll find some great new Batiks from Island Batiks and Batik Textiles.    Bright Yellows, Turquoise and Reds.  Have you seen the new Batik border prints?

Ancient Nights, black tone on tone prints, are back in stock with with mums, gingko, clamshell, koi, and butterfly designs.

WE'VE GOT THREAD!

A lot of you know how much I love thread.  I just can't seem to get enough of all those pretty colors.  So while we were in Tucson, I picked up a rack of MasterPiece thread from the Superior booth.  Take a look at the gorgeous colors!  This #50/2-ply extra-long staple Egyptian cotton is perfect for piecing, appliqué, and detail quilting.

The MasterPiece thread is also a perfect coordinate for Superior's King Tut variegated thread.  Did you know we now have 100 colors in stock.  WOW!  All the Dragonettes at our shop love to quilt using this thread.
