Sashiko pre-printed samplers have wash-out stitching lines.  Do not pre-wash.

The design is printed on one half of the sampler.  You can stitch through both layers for a little heavier fabric if using it for a quilt square or pillow and add your own backing. Or you can stitch through a single layer and use the attached piece as the backing. In Japan, the samplers are stitched through both layers, hemmed and use for tea towels or table decorations.

The Oshima cherry tree is widely cultivated as an ornamental tree. Because of its large, showy flowers it is planted in many gardens and parks. It prefers sun and moist but well draining soil. It is also a hybrid parent of many of the sakura flowering cherry cultivars.
