A Japanese Tenugui  is a thin cotton cloth that has been used for over 1000 years in Japan.

They can be used as decorative towels, wrappings, or for a variety of sewing projects. They can be framed or hung on a rod as a decoration.

Temgui are typically about 35 by 90 centimeters (14 x 35 inches) in size, plain woven, and almost always dyed with a beautiful pattern.  This size makes them an excellent fashion accessory to be worn as a scarf or headband and are often used as a headwrap in martial arts

Usually the long sides are finished with a selvage, while the short sides are left unfinished to allow fraying

These Tenugui are dyed by Nassen, a traditional textile dyeing method in Yokohama, Japan.
