Designed by Tomomi Mimura, Japanese embroidery artist, for Fujix Co. of Japan.
These cute little animal broaches are made with a Mosaic Darning Stitch which combines threads vertically and horizontally and fills the surface like weaving a cloth.
While known as a repair technique, the Mosaic Darning Stitch is very fun to see the colors mixing and become a popular decoration. Wear it as a broach on your clothes or bag or apply it to a torn or stained area, and watch your clothes be reborn.
Since it can be made with a small amount of yarn, the yarn left on the odd side after knitting a sweater etc. is very useful.
Finished size approximately:
5cm x 6cm (1.96" x 2.36")
