This fabric, called Juban, was intended to be the lining for a men's kimono or under garment. 

It is very soft and wispy, almost to the gauze side.  

Scenic fans and stripes with a key maze and a traditional wave (seigaiha) design formed by radiating arcs of tiny dots decorate the fabric.
